Game Projects

I started making games as a general designer—taking ideas from concept to screen. While I enjoy the full process, sound design is where I thrive. I love shaping immersive audio that brings games to life, whether in full releases or game jams.

VR Mahjong

Sound Design & Audio Programming

Yu Liuchuan's PHD final project at George Mason University is a take on the traditional Chinese social game Mahjong.

By recording and implementing a spatialized soundscape, which aim to immerse the player in a reality experience. This unique approach adds a new dimension to the game and enhances the overall experience for the player.

Sound Design

Based on Bluebear's folktale, this escape game let you listen for the wives' whispers to find your way to the truth and the way out, while avoiding the paths of their murderer.

Solo Project

Find audio clues to unlock new areas. Listen to the sonic world dynamically reacting to your paths. This is an Audio/Visual "virtual reality" of Edinburgh districts and buildings.

Another project where I did most element by my own (Coding, Sound, 3D Scanning...).

Freddie's Fire Safety Sim for Edinburgh Airport

Solo Project

In response to Edinburgh Airport's need for a more engaging and simplified Fire Safety Training, our small team created a top-down puzzle game.

Guided by music, audiovisual effects, and a voice-over, players navigate danger and learn to resolve critical situations.

L'art de la Claque

Solo Project

Drawing inspiration from Mario Monicelli's comical train slap scene, I designed a solo and multiplayer arcade game.

Quick reflexes are essential to score points by slapping passengers' faces, but be wary of getting caught by law enforcement.

I'm proud that this game is used for the coding course of next student generations of Abertay University.

In the aftermath of a spaceship crash, players must scavenge resources to repair their vessel.

Surviving on a hostile planet demands keen attention to detail, both visually and aurally, as you craft and persevere during your stay.

Taking cues from Mario Bros and JumpToSuccess concepts. This platformer requires players to collect keys and resources, racing against time to reach the promised land before their dreams fade away.

Our winning game jam project addresses the growing demand for ecological awareness.

In a turn-based strategy game, players make decisions related to energy, cash, natural resources, and research, all while managing taxation and other income sources.

Immerse yourself in a first-person horror game where collaboration between four farm animals with unique abilities is your only chance to escape the slaughterhouse.

Experience the gamified horrors of animal food processing factories from the animals' perspective.

Solo Project

This project centers on futuristic sound effects and voice processing, presenting players with puzzle rooms reminiscent of Portal. Beat the creator of the simulation and shatter the fourth wall in a mind-bending experience.

March 2023

Using only foley, ambisonic ambiance,  synthesisers and layering techniques, I recreated a tension building soundscape matching the gameplay represented in the demo video.
